COURSE DESCRIPTION & MAP

The Festive 5km - MAP

From the start area in Hawrelak Park, athletes will head west and loop Hawrelak Park - then exit and head up Groat Road! Turnaround at the top (Waterstation!) and return the same way down the hill.  Enter the park and head straight back to the finish.
Enjoy the scenery and hills!

The Tacky 10km

The Tacky10k athletes will complete 2 laps of the Festive5k course!  Showoff your holiday gear on Groat Road....twice!

The Furry Fun 3km

From the start, athletes will do a loop of Hawrelak Park on the roadway.
Please remember that all City of Edmonton Pet Bylaws apply. Enjoy the scenery and bathe in the glow of all those festive holiday sweaters!



EVENT ITINERARY

Race Package Pickup

The distribution of race numbers and toques (for the first 150 entrants)

TBD on Friday, November 29 from 6-8pm

Race day pickup will occur onsite (Hawrelak Park) from 12:45pm-1:45pm.

Race Day - Saturday, November 30

12:45pm - 1:45am Late package pickup (Onsite)

1:45pm Pre-race briefing

2:00pm 10km Start

2:15pm 5km Start

2:30pm 2km Start

3:00pm Draw Prizes

** ALL times subject to change. Times will be confirmed at package pickup



HOW TO LOCATE THE EVENT SITE

William Hawrelak Park (originally Mayfair Park) is a 68 hectare park in the river valley featuring a 5 hectare lake and open grassy areas. The park hosts several major festivals and events throughout the year and is a fantastic location for all Edmontonians and visitors to explore.

PARKING

Ample parking is available in Hawrelak Park.  Follow the directions of our parking attendants.  See map for a detailed view.



RACEDAY REGISTRATION

Registration will take place at the race site @ Hawrelak Park.  If you have already received your race kit, you do not need to check-in.

This is also the site of the finish line.


BAGGAGE CHECK

A baggage tent will be available next to the registration tent. Volunteers will place labels with your race # on them. To retrieve your bag after the event, please ensure you have your bib #.   $2.00 per bag – funds donated to our charity!



WASHROOMS

Every runner’ biggest concern! The washrooms at the Hawrelak Park Pavilion are heated!

The 10km start is at 2pm. The 5km start is 15 minutes later. The 2k starts at 2:30pm.



WATER STATIONS

The course will have refreshments at the 2.5km point and finishline!



THE FINISH LINE

Just past the finish, you will find muffins, hot chocolate & more!

Our medical services will also be available here.



RACE ETIQUETTE & INFORMATION

Start – Please seed yourself according to your own pace. Fast runners to the front of each race start. Please heed the ‘rules of the road’ (eg. Stay to the right) unless otherwise stated.

IPods/MP3 players are allowed – BUT you have to be able to hear our volunteers, keep that volume down!

Course - Please follow the instructions of all course marshals. These volunteers are out there to help protect you! The course is open to pedestrian and vehicle traffic (at certain locations).

Please be aware at all times.

Dogs – all pet by-laws are in effect.

We are excited to partner with the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada!

Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada works with communities across the country to provide children with life threatening illnesses the opportunity to realize their most heartfelt wish. By creating unique, meaningful experiences, Children’s Wish enhances quality of life for these courageous children and their families.    In Alberta, we grant between 100-130 Wishes each year.

Tax receipts will be issued for gifts of $25 or more and will be mailed out by the charity at the end of the year.  
Prizing will be made available by the end of December.
